Will the squares really be 1/4 inch when printed?
Yes, as long as you print at 100% scale. In the print dialog, make sure "Fit to page" or "Scale" is off or set to 100% -- the grid is drawn in real inches and millimetres rather than as an image, so the browser prints it at true size. Half-inch margins are already built in.
Which size should I pick?
1/4 inch (4 squares per inch) is the standard school graph paper in the US; 1/5 inch is the engineering standard; 1 cm and 5 mm are the metric equivalents used in most other countries. 1/2 inch and 1 inch suit younger students and large handwriting; 1/8 inch is for fine drafting.
What are the heavier lines for?
A bold line every 5 or 10 squares makes it easier to count cells and plot coordinates -- the same idea as the darker lines on engineering pads. Set it to "Never" for a plain grid.
Can I save it as a PDF instead?
Yes. Use Print, then choose "Save as PDF" as the destination. The PDF keeps the true-size grid.
